‘Bearded Bandit’ sentenced to prison for series of bank robberies

Kenneth Michael Ellis, 31, of Stockton, plead guilty on Nov. sixteen to 8 counts of not armed bank robbery, according to news release from the Department of Justice. He will pay more than $28,000 in restitution.

Ellis also agreed to pay restitution for robberies he committed in Sacramento and Solano counties. He will pay $1,000 to Chase Bank in Elk Grove for a March 1 robbery; $1, four hundred to Wells Fargo Bank in Sacramento for a March 1 robbery; and $1, five hundred to Bank of Stockton in Rio Vista for a March 21 robbery.

The “Bearded Bandit” will serve his sentence immediately. He was also sentenced to a three-year period of supervised release.
